Summer Adventures

This summer I joined Kristina for a Jeep tour up into the Sierra National Forest, and let me tell you—it was an unforgettable ride. She took us across giant granite slabs, narrow dirt roads with steep cliffside drop-offs, and through creeks that splashed up as we powered through. Along the way, we passed through peaceful forested sections and eventually reached a stunning overlook of Bass Lake, where the deep blue water sparkled beneath the Sierra peaks. During warmer months, Yosemite Adventure Co offers both UTV and Jeep tours, allowing guests to either drive themselves under a guide’s instruction or kick back as their guide takes the wheel. It’s the perfect mix of adventure and sightseeing, with routes that showcase everything from hidden meadows and rugged terrain to panoramic lookouts. Summer tours are great for families, couples, and groups of friends who want to get off the beaten path and see Yosemite’s backyard in a whole new way. In addition to the Bass Lake overlook, tour destination options also include giant sequoia trees and Fresno Dome!

Winter Adventures

When the snow starts to fall, Yosemite Adventure Co transitions into full winter mode with their famous Snow Track Tours. Imagine gliding across fresh powder in an ATV or UTV outfitted with snow tracks, climbing thousands of feet into a snowy forest that feels like a scene from a fairytale. On my tour earlier this year, the landscape transformed from pine-dotted ridges into a full-blown winter wonderland as we gained elevation. Our guide led us through snowy meadows, dense forests, and along ridgetops with sweeping views that stretched for miles. No prior snow or off-roading experience is needed—Yosemite Adventure Co provides all the gear and instruction so you can focus on enjoying the ride. Whether it’s sunny skies or a fresh snowstorm, every winter tour feels like a brand-new adventure. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need off-roading experience?
Nope! Yosemite Adventure Co caters to all skill levels. Their guides walk you through everything you need to know, whether you’re tackling summer trails or snowy paths.

What gear is included? What should I bring?
Helmets, goggles, and gloves are provided for ATV/UTV adventures in both summer and winter. It’s recommended to bring your own bandana to help with trail dust during the summer months. For winter, dress warmly, preferably with moisture wicking clothing. For both seasons, come prepared with snacks and plenty of water.

How long are the tours?
Most tours last a few hours, giving you plenty of time to explore without feeling rushed. Both half-day and longer excursions are available depending on your adventure style.

Where do tours start?
All tours depart from Yosemite Adventure Company’s headquarters in Oakhurst, just off Highway 41. This is where you’ll check in, grab gear, and go over a safety briefing. Depending on your adventure, you may drive from there to the trailhead before setting off.

Is it family-friendly?
Yes! Many families bring kids along (age requirements vary by vehicle type), making it a fun way for everyone to explore the Sierra together.

Know Before You Go

• Book in advance: Although walk-ins are welcome, tours fill up quickly, especially during holidays and peak seasons.

• Dress for the elements: Summer can be hot and dusty, so lightweight, breathable clothing is best. Winter can be snowy and cold, so waterproof outerwear and insulated boots are a must.

• Bring water and snacks: Once you’re on the trail, you’re off-grid.

• Protect your gear: The scenery is unreal, so cameras are absolutely welcome. Just know that you AND your gear will be exposed to the elements—dust in the summer and water in winter. I highly recommend bringing a dry bag to put your valuables in for the Snow Track Tours.

• Leave no trace: Yosemite Adventure Company follows the Leave No Trace principles, and guests are encouraged to do the same.

• Check current conditions: For up-to-date info on Yosemite and the surrounding area, visit the Travel Alerts page at YosemiteThisYear.com before your trip.
