Beach Bumming in My Backyard

When the LA traffic cooperates I can reach the waters edge of the Pacific from my front door in less than half an hour. The sound of ocean waves crashing against the Malibu shoreline always refreshes me. As I mentioned in yesterday's blog post, I love the water. The ocean is vast and mysterious, ever-changing, yet constant…it can be mesmerizingly calm or furiously violent.

Last week between Spring storms I made my way to Point Dume State Beach and set up the rig. It was drizzling when I got there but quickly the clouds rolled out & the sky turned bright blue. Standing with my feet in the wet sand, I reflected on the psalmist’s words, ”How amazing are your thoughts concerning me, God. How vast the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand." And I was in awe of the Creator and so grateful to spend time admiring his beautiful creation.

Where are the places you go to stand in awe of the beauty surrounding you?
