"Welcome home"...two words I never dreamed I'd be saying about Southern California. I grew up a Midwest girl with East Coast dreams of the big apple and Broadway's bright lights. Isn't it funny how the paths we plan for ourselves are often so different from the paths we end up traveling?

Welcome to Palisades Park in Porter Ranch, California, overlooking my little house in the valley. It's a great place to take to the trail for an afternoon walk, or to bring a blanket in the evening and watch the sun fade while the lights of the San Fernando Valley come alive at night. I am definitely not an extreme athlete or outdoorsman, but I have a never-ending love affair with all things nature. The mountains, deserts, forests, you name it...but especially the ocean. So I feel blessed to make myself at home surrounded by such a great diversity of nature and yet in the heart of a bustling, busy city.

But "why are you flailing fabric around at a park?", you might rightfully be asking. Well when I think back on my very first aerial classes over a decade ago, I never dreamed my job these days would be teaching people how to fly...or at least dance in the air with me for a few hours a week.

Growing up I spent the cold winter months figure skating, feeling a freedom on the ice that is matched by the freedom I feel spinning around in the air. So it's only natural that over the years flying in the great outdoors has become a part of my life (and it certainly helps that I've always had my husband's support in this area...after all two sets of hands are far quicker than one when it comes to setting up portable rigs!)

So here I am on a late Sunday afternoon enjoying the view from my neighborhood taking a little walk on the trail and flying fabric in the breeze...and no it's not a bad place to call home at all 😊
What do you love most about your hometown? I'm always excited to hear about new places 😊
