My Go-To Mango Matcha Smoothie

We’re finally here–the official start of Summer! Temperatures hit 90 degrees at my house back in early May, so I am feeling like those long Summer days have already arrived. Today I’m sharing my super easy Summer smoothie recipe. I enjoy this smoothie for breakfast year round, but it’s extra refreshing on a hot Summer day!

Ingredients

• 1/2 C diced mango (frozen)

• 1/2 C greek yogurt

• 1/2 C mixed frozen vegetables (I use cauliflower and spinach)

• Matcha powder (one serving)

• 1/2 C water

• Optional extras:

I like to add Vital Proteins or Further Foods collagen to start my day. If you have an extra sweet tooth, feel free to add sweeteners like honey or maple syrup, as well as any additional vitamins or minerals you take. Sometimes I also like to add turmeric and cinnamon.

Directions

  1. Start by pouring 1/2 C frozen vegetables in your blender.

You can also use kale, sweet potato etc. (feel free to get creative here)…I just find freezing my own fresh spinach and riced cauliflower to be super easy.

I use this Blendtec and I’m a HUGE fan because it’s such a workhorse. I can use it to make everything, from my own nut/seed butters to non dairy milks and soups etc. Most blenders, though, will do the trick here.

  2. Add 1/2 C water to your blender.

I use hot water because it softens up those frozen veggies a bit and helps my smoothie to blend “lump free” 😉. This is the water boiler I’ve used for years.

  3. Add your matcha.

I am one of the people who believes there is no such thing as too much matcha, but for most people a little goes a long way. I have matcha every day…matcha lattes, matcha tea, matcha smoothies…you get the gist. I use organic ceremonial grade matcha or one of the blended options below

    Ceremonial Organic Matcha

    Vital Protiens Matcha Collegen

    Further Foods Matcha

  4. Extras

This is when I’ll add my turmeric (I really enjoy this brand) or any extra sweeteners, like honey or cinnamon etc.

  5. Add 1/2 C greek yogurt.

This recipe can be tweaked to your liking, so feel free to use plain or flavored greek yogurt (I often enjoy honey). It can have any level of fat content, and if greek yogurt isn’t your thing, use regular yogurt, oat yogurt, coconut yogurt, or even kefir. Just keep in mind that greek yogurt is thick, so if using a plain yogurt or kefir, consider using slightly less water.

  6. Lastly, add in 1/2 C mango and simply blend.

If you like a thicker smoothie (like me), consider adding a “heaping” 1/2 C mango.

Feel free to substitute with your favorite fruits…I love switching it up with frozen peaches from time to time.

Making it Your Own

This smoothie is quick and easy to make…there’s really no way to make a mistake with it. If you give it a try, I’d love to hear what you think and how you make it your own. I’ve tried many substitutions over the years, including peaches for the mangos, and kale instead of spinach…it always turns out delicious!
